What we liked

  • + Adjustable emissivity from 0.1 to 1.0 and accuracy of +/-1.5% per the listing.
  • + 12:1 distance-to-spot ratio with a response time under 500 ms.
  • + Range of -58 to 1022 degrees F, MAX/MIN/AVG display, backlit LCD.

Trade-offs

  • - The spec sheet is written for pizza ovens and HVAC use, not for terrariums.
  • - It reads surface temperature only, not air temperature, and it comes from a brand that is not a reptile specialist.
