What we liked
- + Non contact surface readings let you check basking spots and the floor of an enclosure without touching them.
- + Adjustable emissivity and a MAX display are listed, which helps when you read different surfaces.
- + A 12:1 distance to spot ratio is listed, so you can read from a short distance, and it is priced low for a gun.
Trade-offs
- - It is sold for cooking, HVAC and engine work, so the listing says nothing about reptile use or air temperature, only surface readings.
- - It is a general tool, not a reptile branded one like the Zoo Med unit it replaces, and the manufacturer does not state its accuracy.
