What we liked
- + Made from fir tree bark in smaller chips, which the listing says helps moisture retention.
- + The product page says the bark can be washed and reused, which stretches one bag further.
- + Comes from a known terrarium brand at a modest price for 8 quarts, with a tropical look.
Trade-offs
- - It is fir bark, not the cypress mulch it replaces, so it behaves differently and the spec sheet does not say which species it suits.
- - The manufacturer gives no details on dust level, and bark chips are not the right choice for every species.
